A shared cookbook for your phone
Amounts you can actually measure.
Tare keeps the recipes you cook from. Change the number of servings and it works in the spoons, cups and grams you already own — then tells you what it rounded, and by how much.
It began as a cookbook for two people who cook together, and that is still who every decision is made for.
And it says so out loud: rounded up by just under a teaspoon. Nothing is quietly fudged.

The only cup measures Tare will land on — because they are the only ones printed on a real measuring cup.
What it does
Six things, and it tries to do all six without asking anything of you in return.
-
Scales to real equipment
Double it, halve it, take it to five. Tare works in the spoons, cups and grams you own, tells you what it rounded, and says by how much it scaled.
-
Reads a recipe off the page
Paste a link. Tare pulls out the ingredients, the amounts and the method, and files it as yours — without the life story above it.
-
One cookbook, several cooks
Everyone sees the same recipes. The notes you leave while cooking are there for whoever cooks it next, which is usually the point of writing them.
-
Plans the week
Put recipes on days, and send the meals to a shopping list the whole kitchen shares. The plan stays as a record of what you actually ate, which turns out to be the useful part.
-
Works with no signal
Your recipes are on the phone. Kitchens have bad reception, and that should not be your problem while your hands are covered in flour.
-
Yours to take away
Everything you have put in comes back out in one file, whenever you ask for it. Bringing a library in from somewhere else works the same way, in reverse.
No advertising. No analytics. No tracking.
Not on this website, and not in the app. There is no analytics code inside Tare, nothing follows you from one app to the next, and nobody is assembling a picture of what you cook.
-
Nothing loads from anyone else
This page uses one typeface, served from this domain. No fonts, scripts or images are fetched from another company’s servers, so nobody else is quietly told you were here.
-
No cookies, so no cookie banner
This site sets none at all. That is the whole reason you were not asked to agree to anything on the way in.
-
Your recipes stay yours
Take them out at any time. And if you delete your account, the app says plainly what goes with it and what stays behind.
Only what counts.
Where Tare is up to
Tare is being tested privately and is not yet in any app store. There is nothing to download here yet. When there is, this is where the link will be.
